It is snowing in Northwest Arkansas today!! It is officially starting to feel like my favorite time of the year, Christmas! Comfort food, drinks and of course, Christmas movies! In my household, our Christmas actually begins Christmas Eve. The whole day consists of us wearing matching pajamas while we make homemade tamales, drink ponche, and watch movies until midnight, which is when we open presents. It is honestly a very fun day!
One of my favorites movies to watch on Christmas Day is Santa Clause. So why not recreate Judys hot cocoa! And if you are up for it… a special twist!

The Perfect Hot Chocolate
“Not too hot. *Extra* chocolate. Shaken, not stirred.” – Judy
This recipe did not take me 1200 years to perfect but I do love it! It’s warm and perfect for those colder months. Before we begin, I must say, I am a firm believer that the BEST hot chocolate involves milk NOT water. But what if you are vegan or lactose intolerant? No problem! This is still the perfect recipe for you.
Made with almond milk and a drizzle of agave, its absolute perfection!

Ingredients
- 1 C almond milk
- 1 1/2 Tbsp cocoa
- 1 1/2 Tbsp agave (or maple syrup)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- Dash of nutmeg
- 1 oz rum (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- In a small saucepan, begin by warming up your milk to a low simmer.
- Add cocoa, agave, cinnamon, vanilla & nutmeg, stir until there are no lumps.
- Right before removing from heat, stir in your rum (if using)
- Pour into a mug and top with CocoWhip or Vegan Marshmallows with a drizzle of chocolate. Serve immediately.
